ARIANA is a 27 minute Short Film that has been in over 25 Film Festivals and won several awards. It was the first film made by Actor/Filmmaker/Producer Shashi Balooja. It recently screened during the Caribbean Tales Festival in Toronto.

ARIANA was selected by the Caribbean Film Tales Festival as part of their Incubator Program and packaged for development as feature film MAMA GRACE


Ariana is a comedic drama which examines how a confident gay professional copes with losing control of his home when his live-in grandmother exhibits signs of dementia, and his lover becomes her caretaker.

In the feature film "MAMA GRACE" the turnaround premise is:

An elderly West Indian woman shows up at the Toronto airport early one morning. Abraham Freeman receives a call from immigration to come and collect at her at the airport. Mama Grace has migrated to Canada to live with her gay doctor grandson and his lover James, at the onset of her dementia. In a whirlwind of events, love, life and relationships are re-defined as James becomes Mama Grace's caregiver and Abraham must deal with his grandmother's demise, and a past he thought he had left behind.
